Natural remedies
Here are some recommended natural remedies and tips to help you through your hay fever.

To build up a resistence to the pollen in your local area, take a tablespoon of your local honey everyday.
Your local honey is whatever honey is produced in an area near where you live. The closer the honey is produced to where you live, the more effective it is.
This can decrease sensitivity to pollens through stimulation of the blocking antibodies.

Itchy eyes?
Lie down with a wet cloth over your eyes or place a wet, strained tea bag on your eyelids.
Sneezing?
Rub vasaline on the inside of your nostrils to trap the pollen.

Reduce or cut out dairy foods. They are considered to be mucus producers and may increase the amount of mucus produced during hay fever bouts.

Blocked or stuffy sinuses?
Pour boiling water into a bowl along with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Hold your head over the bowl. Cover your head with a towel while doing this, to trap the steam. This will help to clear your nose and relieve your symptoms.

Vitamin C supplementation is believed to have an antihistamine effect. Vitamin C also plays a role in supporting the immune system. Oranges and peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C.
Get undressed in the bathroom. Don't carry pollen with you into your bedroom, undress in the bathroom so the pollen on your clothes isn't carried with you.

Have a wash!
Simply by showering, changing your bedsheets, washing your clothes and not drying them outside, you can remove the pollen and ease your allergies.

Avoid or reduce your intake of tea, coffee and other caffeine products, as these trigger histamine release.
Instead, drink plenty of herbal teas, such as Chamomile tea and Ginger tea, both of which are reputed to relieve hay fever symptoms. Green tea strengthens the immune system and acts as a natural antihistamine, whilst Peppermint tea relieves nasal and sinus congestion.
